Program
The Artrepreneur program was developed with the needs of the creative entrepreneur in mind. Although there are many entrepreneurship courses out there, our program has been uniquely tailored for the creative industries. The program is subsidized and supported by partners, which allows York Region Arts Council to fulfill our commitment of delivering inclusive and financially accessible programming. Artrepreneur’s unique methodology allows for conversations to occur between artists of various disciplines, expertise, and backgrounds.
The Artrepreneur
The Artrepreneur program is open to entrepreneurs of all art disciplines, as well as those working at the intersection of art, technology & innovation, including, but not limited to: Performance Arts, Visual and Media Arts (including Film/Video), Dance, Music, Multidisciplinary, Craft, Theatre & Literary Arts.
Fellows must actively practise or operate as an independent artist, leader of an arts group/non-profit organization, or the founder/owner of a creative business, for a minimum of one year.
The Curriculum
Our Core Artrepreneur Program consists of 13 in-class weekly workshops.
Each workshop is three hours long and facilitated by experts in business topics such as marketing, finance, goal-setting and partnerships for creative entrepreneurs. Workshops are supported by assignments, relevant tools & templates, and/or discussions.
At the end of each cohort there will be an EXPO where the fellows will present their venture to friends, family, peers, community members, and potential partners and customers.
The fellows will leave the program with a Certificate of Completion, and a completed Business Plan.
